Elegant Red Dining Destination: Azure80 Brings Refined Chinese Opulence to Hong Kong's Harbour City

Hong Kong's local catering group, Taste Gourmet, and renowned local Sichuan cuisine master, Chef Chen Qide, along with Executive Chef of TGG, Liu Yongyuan, have come together to open Azure80, a new restaurant located at the tip of Harbour City, near the renowned Victoria Harbour. The restaurant's decor reflects their rich and delicate cuisine, and they entrusted the project to Minus Workshop.

Azure80 boasts an eye-catching facade that exudes simplicity and refinement in its relaxed, luxurious neighborhood, which is currently undergoing a gentle transformation. The facade is illuminated by a series of red layers, accompanied by a signature lobster tank showcasing innovative lobster dishes. This design element makes the restaurant visible from a distance, both within the mall interior and from the adjacent escalator.

Upon entering the restaurant, the severe exterior gives way to a combination of oriental shimmering copper colors and clean, straight lines reminiscent of Chinese architecture. The dominant flooring at Azure80 features a brownish vein marble mosaic with pronounced cream tones, complemented by copper-colored edges and legs, contributing to the restaurant's luxurious Chinese palace-inspired character.

The ornamentation, while focused and contemporary, incorporates rich forms and repetitive modules in the moldings, benches, and layered wall panels. The ash grey pillars adorned with crown-inspired wall lights, as well as the semi-hexagonal niche of the bar, showcase the richness of the design. The restaurant's beauty extends beyond its visual appeal, with textured leather and velvet seats offering a delightful tactile experience. The surrounding materials create a comforting atmosphere, skillfully crafted by Minus Workshop.

Minus Workshop intelligently expanded the restaurant within the existing structure, introducing a cream-colored hem with intriguing uplighting that complements the dominant ceiling structure and color palette. The tall windows have been maximized to naturally delineate five different sections: a dramatic cubical area, a bar, a central dining area, a private room, and an elongated semi-private room with round tables, including two large ones. Sumptuous oriental-flavored glass screens partition these areas, creating a festive atmosphere that echoes the play of sunlight. Additionally, the swingable glass partitions allow the restaurant to transform into an enviable banquet hall for special occasions. Spanish lighting fixtures from Aromas, emphasizing curves, along with chairs and round tables, soften the straight lines of the space and its furniture. The interior design harmonizes with the delicate and elegant cuisine that the restaurant is known for.

The private room, conceived by the design team as an extension of the dining room, seamlessly blends into the space while standing out with its wooden facade and frosted glass. A wide central opening with a finely crafted portrayal and impression allows visual contact with guests while maintaining a sense of intimacy. The use of wooden materials but in a soft play adds warmth and stunning focal point to the space, balancing the coolness of the ocean from Victoria Harbour. With a seating capacity of 120, this medium-sized restaurant shines against the backdrop of Hong Kong's enchanting night view. Its inviting atmosphere, comfortable setting, and spacious layout contribute to its appeal across different sections.
