Bar Liberty was the second venture for Rockwell & Sons owners, Casey Wall & Manu Potoi. The space had a functioning kitchen but the interior needed to be stripped right back & re-done. Similarly to Rockwell, as a winebar it was a new venture for the owners so flexibility was important. The space was tall but the rooms' quite small so furniture needed to be mindful of this as seating maximum patrons was the aim. The walls where kept simple like a background canvas, the joinery was humble but well crafted. Being able to see how something has been made is a design preference at Drawing Room and in this context, it adds depth & legibility. Warm wood communicates the wine process & speaks of time & quality & contrast well with a black & white colour palette. As a hospitality venue, patrons are participating in public ritual and an experience or the feeling of an experience is required. Contrast generates this & adds texture.
Event in hospitality is space & though we had little time or actual space, events are enjoyable moments to design.
