Bent/Sliced House

Hufft as Architects

The Bent/Sliced House draws inspiration from Japanese origami. The house “bends” to follow the contours of a dramatically sloping site. The form is “sliced” to create clerestories that bring in ventilation and natural light. The Bent/Sliced House is clad in western red cedar, cement board, and concrete, with large expanses of windows. A series of awnings define outdoor space, while tall trees and native grasses cover the site. Cedar slats continue inside the home, a warm counterpoint to the other interior finishes.
