Originally the 250 year old „Bergtischler“-house was an annex to a farmhouse, for the usage of baking. The old stove with its brick arches is now used as the kitchen. In the 1920s the house was expanded with a basement in the north and a room above and converted into a dwelling with a cabinetmaker’s workshop. Thats the origin of the name of the house which means „the carpenter from the hill“.

2003 the first restoration works were initiated by its new owners. New windows, floors, plaster and electricity were given an adjusted standard and whilst the drainage of the outer walls the so called “Mühlviertler Bloßsteinmauer” was rediscovered. These characteristic natural stone walls today give the building its characteristic look with homage to its history and site.

Due to the connection to the public canal system 2010 the conversion of the building began. The expansions of the 1920s as well as the roof structure have been really badly conditions and have been completely subtracted. Only the old stone walls from the 18th century were kept. On the north side of the beach were exploded to build the partly covered concrete basement. The rest of the new building was completed with pre-fabricated wooden elements in just one week. For the walls of a pre-fabricated mullion-transom construction with double planking and insulation in between what was used. Windows, outdoor doors and the horizontal façade elements are made of untreated larch. Ceilings are made out of plywood and the attic which also built out of pre-fabricated elements. Wood also appears in the interior design of the building. Floors in the old part of the building are in the expansion. Inside the north wall is planked with clay building boards. The loft area, at open sleeping level and a small gallery inside the building, although the covered area of ​​the building is only around 50m2. Heat supply is mainly generated in a building with a low temperature wall. The heat generation is covered by a heater in addition to a stove and a table heater, thus used for cooking. In summer warm water support is covered by the solar energy system on the roof. although the covered area of ​​the building is only around 50m2.
