In Holbæk 40 km west of Copenhagen, Henning Larsen Architects has developed a masterplan for 600 housing units and an integrated day care centre.
With a mix of ownership the different types of apartments and terraced houses provide favourable variation in the buildings. The housing units are aimed at middleclass families. High demands on material, constructional solutions and architecture ensure the housing standard. All types of housing have large space and have either a balcony or access to private terrace.
Life and activity close to the home and the large common green unifies the building, whilst creating a safe housing estate with focus on sociall life, city ecology and quality.
The entire area – Bernts Have – is experienced as a well-integrated whole consisting of a network of smaller, individual quarters or villages in a green park-like landscape. The project is developed over a ten-year period. During the development every stage is to function as a whole until the construction of the next stage. After this the villages are integral parts of a new whole.
