The concept of Be·spoke was the driving force in a collaboration that resulted in this personally defined dwelling for a prominent tailor who enjoys entertaining and gardening. The client desired an environmentally sustainable house, married to its landscape, which included a 3.75 acre mini arboretum strewn with abstract concrete sculptures and paths.

We responded to program and site by designing a “J” shaped plan surrounding a central garden and future pool. The house rises from the site in a series of volumes that remain a single room in width, allowing for abundant natural light. This upward spiral of spaces evolves from public spaces (kitchen, dining, living) towards private (children's and master suites and a third floor study). Multiple outdoor rooms and balconies take advantage of the comfort of the natural setting and maintains the close relationship that the exterior of the house has to its setting.

We were really able to execute the high-level of customization in this work becasue of the design build approach we used. A constant connection to the site and the construction process through having our people on site every day allowed every detail to come together exactly as botht he clients and the deisgners wanted and lefft everyone involved with a strong personal attachment to the house.

The home has become a canvas for the client’s continued landscape projects, various creative plantings, vined trellises, and rooftop vegetable gardens.
