A young family, newcomers to Austin, desired a compact house that would defer to the landscape. The clients wished for plentiful natural light, minimalist interiors, and a visual and physical connection with the creekside site. Surrounded by live oaks, the Bull Creek Residence presents a monochromatic facade to the street. An entry courtyard draws visitors to the front door, with views through full-height glass toward the verdant creek beyond.
The interiors feature both light and dark-stained wood slats, polished concrete floors, and dark finishes in the kitchen. The ground floor contains an open kitchen/dining/living area with access to the patio and pool beyond; a guest bathroom, guest bedroom, and family room. Open riser stairs access the second floor, with its primary suite and two additional bedrooms with shared bathroom.
The patio has outdoor living and dining areas, and a swimming pool with adjacent sunken fire pit. all nestled below the canopy of the live oak trees.
