C-D House

The owners had a house in town and wished for one in a rural area, compact and cozy like a summer house. The house spreads out over 180 m2, on 2 levels : the upper floor hosts living rooms, while the half-buried concrete pedestal, accommodates technical rooms and a goat farm with a cheese factory. Concrete and Cor-ten steel are the two main materials composing the house. The three different steel profiles used as cladding, made step by step in a workshop, were placed at random in order to obtain a dynamic pattern. These raw elements perfectly match the natural environment.

Thanks to the highly efficient insulation, only an open fire is necessary to heat the whole house, no heating equipment had to be added. This project, elaborated along bioclimatic architectural and sustainable development principles, is equipped with a bidirectional ventilation, including heat recovery and a 150 liters boiler for sanitary water.
