Capping of the Ring

Capping of the Ring

ORG Permanent Modernity as Architects

This project engages an analysis of risks and obstacles, as well as a plan for clearing these obstacles with a city-wide public participation process committing thousands of citizens and companies towards the reshaping of the highway ring around Antwerp. The project reached a milestone with the definition of masterplan and compass for the transformation and capping of the ring after over a decade of contention and disagreement. Today, more than five design consortia are elaborating the capping design over the Ring, curated by our office. The project completes with a detailed investment prospectus for project worth 1.25 billion Euros of guaranteed public commitments.
