Una complessa forma architettonica che rompe gli schemi all’interno del Medienhafen di Düsseldorf, un vivacissimo quartiere caratterizzato da un grande fermento culturale grazie ai recenti interventi di architetti celebri e allo sviluppo di attività legate al mondo della creatività e del design. L’opera, Capricorn Bridge, è un ponte polimorfo in vetro e acciaio tubolare progettato dallo studio di architettura SuperGelb per collegare i due edifici, Capricornhaus e Float Office, che compongono l’HQ di Uniper, società attiva nel settore dell’energia, fondata a gennaio 2016 a seguito dello spin-off da E.ON. Capricorn Bridge si presenta come un elemento del tutto indipendente dal punto di vista architettonico, che si discosta completamente dai due edifici antistanti che collega, realizzati rispettivamente dallo studio d’architettura Gatermann+Schossig (Capricornhaus) e da Renzo Piano Architects (Float Office). Il risultato è un elemento di grande impatto scenografico che regala al quartiere un ulteriore tocco di modernità.
Dirigo from the i-LèD collection is the linear protagonist of the project, chosen by the Jack Be Nimble lighting design studio responsible for realising the technical-lighting project. The system contains a new concept of light, representing the ideal solution for illuminating paths and walkways. Within the bridge, where it was not possible to fasten any device to the walls or ceilings due to being the steel and glass structure, Dirigo proved to be the most effective way to illuminate the path homogeneously, without the risk of irritating glare whilst emphasising the complex architectural form of the construction.
A custom version of Dirigo was fitted, with tailored lengths and special angles for the junction points, on both sides of the flooring along the entire walkway. In this way, light is reflected from the ground directly within the entire space and the scenographic effect that is obtained – being especially visible at night – is surprisingly magical.
