Project Overview
Residential building company Carter Grange engaged Amicus to deliver a new workplace that would operate as both a high-performing commercial office and a physical expression of their residential capability. As established home builders, Carter Grange approached the project with a clear expectation of quality, care and delivery — the same standard their own clients experience throughout the construction of a Carter Grange home.
The brief called for a space that supports the team operationally while also functioning as a working showroom. The environment needed to communicate craftsmanship, considered materiality and refined design thinking, allowing prospective homeowners to experience the brand in a tangible way.
In collaboration with interior design studio Made For, the project was conceived as a residential-led workplace — warm, tactile and highly resolved. The design translates the language of a contemporary home into a commercial setting, creating a space that feels authentic to Carter Grange’s core business.
Spatial and Material Strategy
Materiality is central to the interior experience. Timber joinery, stone surfaces and a restrained neutral palette establish a sense of warmth and familiarity, echoing the finishes typically found within Carter Grange’s residential projects. The detailing is refined but understated, ensuring the space feels composed rather than overtly corporate.
These materials are not simply aesthetic; they are embedded within the client journey. Integrated sample displays and curated colour palettes allow finishes and textures to be experienced in situ, rather than viewed in isolation. Stone benchtops, custom cabinetry and layered lighting are presented as they would be in a completed home, providing context and scale.
As clients move through the space, they gain a clear understanding of how design concepts translate into built form. This immersive approach supports more confident decision-making, bridging the gap between selection boards and lived experience. The office becomes an extension of the residential narrative — a place where craftsmanship and detail can be observed first-hand.
From a planning perspective, the layout balances client-facing zones with focused work areas for staff. Open workstations are complemented by meeting rooms and informal collaboration spaces, ensuring the office functions efficiently as a day-to-day workplace. The integration of showroom elements within this framework maintains cohesion, rather than creating a separation between “office” and “display.”
Construction and Collaboration

Close collaboration with Made For, combined with a hands-on site approach, ensured that bespoke joinery, stone detailing and integrated lighting were executed to a high standard. Particular attention was given to junctions, material transitions and concealed services to preserve the clarity of the design intent.
Through proactive coordination and consistent communication, the project maintained momentum while safeguarding quality across every element of the build.
