The project incorporates an extensive program for a small lot in Odemira's historic core. The original property consisted of two vacant commercial spaces and was in poor condition. The creation of a 4 person household complete with garage and exterior patio, as well as an autonomous space for an office, contributed to the revitalization of the area through a diversity of urban functions.
The spaces are arranged around a central core composed of two volumes: sanitary installations and vertical accesses. This central core separates the workshop from the garage on the ground floor, the living room, kitchen, and patio on the first floor, and the three bedrooms on the upper floor
A natural ventilation system is designed that takes advantage of the central column of the stairwell , which is hollowed at the top floor and is supplemented with a skylight at the top, promoting the intake of cool fresh air from the first floor and hot air exiting through the skylight.
The exterior cladding incorporates vernacular architectural materials such as ceramic tiles, wooden window frames, and lime plaster .
The authenticity of the materials used is assumed, taking advantage of their distinct characteristics.
The volume of the building and the alignments of the tops of the facades in relation to the adjacent buildings ensure a reading of continuity from the perspective of the streets and the urban context .
