Casa BO

The Casa BO project concerns the renovation of a 145-square-meter apartment located in a residential building in the Balduina neighborhood, in the north-western area of central Rome.

The client’s request was to transform the existing layout of the living area into a large open space, where the living room, dining room, and kitchen could coexist through direct spatial and visual continuity.

The connection between the central rooms, now conceived as a single luminous volume, is defined by the presence of a large handcrafted glass partition. Made with a dark brown iron frame, this element visually and physically links the spacious kitchen—with its central island—to the adjacent dining area. Soft curved lines recur throughout several elements of the project: in the Calacatta marble countertop of the kitchen island, in the beveled masonry details, and in the passages that separate the living area from the sleeping area.

The material trait d’union of the intervention is represented by a solid walnut parquet floor laid in an Italian herringbone pattern. Its rich tonal variations give the space a warm and distinctive character, enhanced by the neutral tones of the surrounding walls. Wooden elements are also echoed in the kitchen design, where elegant milled light-oak paneling forms the base of the central module.
