Amazing Brick House in Coyoacan, Mexico

OSMANY RAMÍREZ | Estudio de arquitectura as Architects

The house is immersed in the old neighborhood of "La Conchita", a colonial neighborhood with a long history dating back to the time of the Conquest. The building adapts its design to dialogue with its immediate context through a facade made of annealed red brick inspired by patterns of fabrics that provide privacy and light to the interior spaces, in addition the project preserves and adapts to all the existing trees.

Conceived as an open, double-height social area, the house establishes a direct connection with the garden, creating a harmonious environment. The master bedroom is sheltered from the street to ensure privacy, opening onto an interior courtyard containing a large tree. The central core optimizes circulation and services, promoting efficiency in the facilities.

The architectural design combines construction systems with industrial-type materials such as steel and concrete, and at the same time rescues the local craftsmanship of annealed red brick masonry.

Inside, the feeling of a galley prevails, fulfilling the specific request of the clients, and the mezzanine with wooden beams in the ceiling is preserved to provide warmth to the spaces. On the top level, the decks are transformed into terraces that interact with the trees on the street.

The house has different interior heights and thanks to its steel construction system, it is flexible enough to build a second room above the double height of the living room.

The tour of the house integrates indoor and outdoor spaces through tree-lined courtyards, emphasizing the continuous connection with nature and enhancing the beauty of handcrafted elements. Its design fuses the simplicity of craftsmanship with the richness of the natural environment, providing a unique and serene experience in each environment.
