This project attends to very peculiar conditions and purposes to rescue the lower floor of a small apartment in the distinctive neighborhood of Príncipe Real, in Lisbon. It illustrates itself from of the existing substance collecting only the foreign frames, freeing up space and light, for a new program that depends on its possibility of residing. The proposal is to convert an unwelcoming and degraded space from a house already restored and in usage, into a bedroom and bathroom.
The succession of the garden that expands on the exterior floor to the new space, over a courtyard that was the starting point. The replacement of green, of such strong vivacity, makes the interior spaces on another scale and qualifies them for a chilled and airy residence, something characteristic of the intended use.
Detail is used, valuing the detail design as a way to value and grade the space valuing its scale and context. Lioz stone and strobe cement regulate sanitary installation and become themselves the matter that responds to aesthetics and function. With pieces all designed to measure to make tuneful and at the same time achievable the existence of all equipment, without removing the vital charisma to a comfortable space that was once an obsolete and dim basement.
