Casa Thovez fits within an architectural complex
with an exclusive and special charm that draws its origins from its
troubled and rich history of changes and conversions.
Throughout the twentieth century, the building that houses the apartment housed
the exclusive Institute of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. In the 1980s
part of the now empty complex became home to another prestigious
educational institution established in Turin: the Lycée Francais. In the last
decade, it was transformed into a residence surrounded by the centuries-old park
and it is here that the interior design project finds its place.
The philosophy guiding the interior choices throughout the project is based on
on the contrast between the lightness of the box and the richness of the finishes.
The large convivial living room, characterized by soft shapes and colors
and cozy, coexists with the dining room where a long black table
custom-designed is juxtaposed with Cassina's iconic Leggera chairs
and the dark-colored bench, creating a visual and collected unicuum,
interrupted only by the colorful pendant and strongly designed
contemporary design by Lambert & Fils.
The large window overlooking the park and the city of Turin is the
main subject of the lounge giving access to the large terrace
furnished as if it were an indoor environment composed of a
living room and a dining area embraced by greenery.
The kitchen,is the only room where the existing wooden floor leaves
space to a stone-effect stoneware creating a single-material box in
juxtaposition with a dark wood kitchen.
In the bedroom, the wall is treated as a surface
neutral enriched with decorative rods and profiles in appliqué
monochrome that serves as a backdrop for a rich double bed
upholstered. The closet with wallpapered doors creates a bulkhead
muffled and refined along with an armchair with a woven fabric
mustard color. The bathroom fits like a picture inside the
doorway, introducing inside an atmosphere of soft and
cozy, a break of elegance in heat-treated oak wood and
dark colors with an elegant flavor.
