Project Description
Cala Vista at Jumeirah Mina A’Salam is a masterclass in coastal narrative where the spirited essence of an Amalfi village is reimagined for Dubai’s sophisticated shores. The design orchestrates a seamless dialogue between interior intimacy and the expansive horizon, grounded in a refined palette of sun-bleached beige, azure blue, and lemon yellow. Positioned high on the beachfront, this family-friendly retreat invites guests to savor the essence of "la dolce vita" through an authentic menu and a setting that transcends the ordinary.

Concept and Narrative
The concept serves as an ode to the lifestyle of the scenic Amalfi coast, seamlessly marrying Italian charm with the allure of surrounding ocean views. This Italian restaurant captures the feel of small Italian Piazzas with tumbled travertine flooring, traditional streetlights, and vibrant greenery, welcoming friends and families for an unforgettable alfresco dining experience. The atmosphere is defined by a celebration of materials in their purest form, embracing honesty and simplicity throughout the 970 square meter space.

The Indoors
The architectural soul of the space is found in its commitment to material honesty where carved dark timber doors and delicate marble profiles meet the tactile warmth of rustic plaster and tumbled travertine. Overhead, classical cornice mouldings frame the space, while Italian-inspired patterned tiles and hand-painted motifs underfoot whisper stories of Mediterranean heritage.
At the heart of the theater is a monolithic show kitchen encased in exquisite white marble and intricate bronze screens. This high-energy focal point serves as the engine for a 400-cover journey, bridging the transition to the outdoors.

Nearby, acting as a second stage to the anchoring show kitchen, the dispense bar and lush wine cellar are tucked into a bespoke enclave. This area functions as a meticulously crafted space—a tribute to craftsmanship where the sommelier can orchestrate the "art of the pour" within a setting of high-fidelity craftsmanship.

The Outdoors
The transition to the elements is defined by an expanded verandah of large bifold glass doors that open onto a cascading three-tier terrace. Framed by bespoke black cast iron railings and shaded by ancient olive trees, the alfresco experience centers around a sculptural white marble bar crafted entirely from Statuario marble. The seating arrangement is characterized by traditional iron-framed chairs paired with relaxed teak lounge chairs to offer a comfortable and elegant setting. Design elements include pavilions adorned with striking traditional awnings for an impactful shading effect, while the upholstery fabrics of beige and navy blue feature bold stripes and zesty yellow accents. Terracotta pots are mixed with hand-glazed blue planters housing lemon trees, and bougainvillea gracefully climbs the main pavilion to create a harmonious connection between the structure and its environment.

Material Selection
The material palette is a celebration of purity and simplicity, reflecting honesty in design. Key selections include teak wood, honed stones, and tumbled travertine accented with custom-made Italian-inspired patterned tiles. The structure features travertine stairs, Statuario marble, and reconstituted stone with White Calacatta Gold effects used for table tops to contribute to a sophisticated aesthetic. Decorative bespoke cast iron railings frame the levels, while a unique curated selection of tableware references traditional handcrafted Italian ceramics.

Cuisine and Ambience
Head Chef Luca Castelli brings an authentic taste of fresh seafood and Italy’s best culinary traditions to this beachfront setting. The menu features an abundance of delightful grills, decadent pizza, flavoursome antipasti, and homemade pasta, as well as Italian gelato and homemade tiramisu. Complementing the culinary experience are legendary house negronis, homemade Sicilian limoncello, and an enchanting wine list. Throughout the day, guests are serenaded by a resident DJ curating soundtracks of classic Italian music remixed to a chilled lounge beat, blending vintage coastal charm with a modern, relaxed atmosphere.
