At the Ede exit of the A12 motorway, a number of red metal boxes rise from the grass verge. Together they form the end of the traffic noise barrier that stretches along the road for some kilometres. The high soundproofing standards for cinema theatres enable these buildings to easily double as noise barriers. Below the theatres a central lobby has been carved out of the noise barrier.

The staircase structures and suspended floors combine with the overhanging theatres to set the scene. In the past year, two new movie theatres have been realized. Under the turfed-over roof, at the point where the building meets the noise barrier, a spectacular multipurpose area has been created.

CineMec CineMec is a state-of-the-art Cineplex as well as a conference centre.

High sound insulation and fire resistance Sound insulation is always an important point for attention in cinemas. It is also very important at CineMec in view of the fact that the building houses a cinema and various congress rooms. Along with the good insulating properties, FAAY’s high fire resistance was very valuable when these wall systems were chosen.

The inner walls are made from FAAY partition walls (3200m2). Fire resistance of 60 minutes was required for many of the inner walls. To comply with this, extra plasterboard, 12.5 mm thick, was fixed to the FAAY wall where needed. The panels in the event hall are 'stacked' to a height of 14 metres. They form a wall that runs parallel to the highway and lean backwards. This wall is all of 45 metres long.

About 3200m2 of FAAY partition wall, 2500m2 plasterboard (12.5 mm) and 1400m2 mineral wool (65 mm) has been supplied and installed in total.

Particulars: The walls in the event hall are ± 14 m high The 14 m high and 45 m long wall leans back 1.4 m and is parallel to the highway. To install the FAAY panels, a wooden construction was made over the steel. Ultimately supplied and installed: about 3200m2 FAAY partition walls , 2500m2 plasterboard (12.5 mm) and 1400m2 mineral wool (65 mm).

Brand description
Faay stands for simplicity and quality Faay Vianen B.V., a Dutch family business, is based in Vianen in the province of Utrecht. Partition walls have been manufactured on the basis of flax waste, a by-product of the linen-, paper-, and linseed oil production and plasterboard. It all started in 1971 with a single wall type, but growth set in quickly. In no time at all, there was a complete range which complied with every Buildings Decree requirement. There are five wall applications within the FAAY product range: Partition Walls, Retention walls, Insulation Walls, Home-Separating Walls and Double Walls. The walls are impact resistant, highly soundproof and fire resistant, thermally insulating, screw-tight, flexible and very quick to assemble. FAAY wall systems are very popular among various sectors in internal finishing, such as new construction and renovation; homes, businesses, schools, showrooms, hotels, commercial properties and hospitals. Each unit is fitted as standard with two cable ducts for electrical wiring and/or data communications. The ease of dismantling is also a great advantage, as the panels are always moveable so that the building can always be divided up again and again. This makes a building easy to divide up and therefore future-proof. The starting point for all FAAY products is simplicity and quality. We are proud of the fact that no other partition wall can be built as quickly as FAAY, despite the very high standards we set. Every FAAY wall and ceiling is manufactured in accordance with the Buildings Decree standard. FAAY ceilings In 1996, Faay started to manufacture ceilings. Plasterboard sheets were the initial material for the products. Later on, the range was supplemented with a concealed, removable mineral tile. These ceilings can be used to make a home-separating structure in terms of acoustic insulation and fire resistance. The removable FR19 ceiling complies with the high A2 class in the new European fire classification standard. Continuously on the move Despite the wide assortment of Faay, the development of FAAY products does not stand still. The market is continuously on the move. Faay is focused on the future, developing new products and entering new markets. the development of FAAY products does not stand still either. Because of its very broad palette of vinyl and HPL coatings, Faay is right up to date with current trends. Industrial, Flexible and Demountable construction (IFD) is a market development that demands ever greater ease of use and processing, maintaining a high level of flexibility. With this in mind, Faay has put a number of innovative products onto the market such as the sanitary unit, prefab pressure bulkhead (of wordt hier Prefab cavity barrier bedoeld) and the KBL system. Global sales With 33 employees, Faay manufactures over 450,000 m2 of wall every year. The central theme of all FAAY products is simplicity and quality, according to the motto: ‘quality always wins’. In the Netherlands the walls and ceilings are sold through the timber and building materials trade. The export is spread from Scandinavia to the Middle East and from the Caribbean region to Japan. For DIY enthusiasts, we have put the Quick & Easy brand on the market. Furthermore, our subsidiary FAAY Wandbespuiting (Wall spraying) can help you with an attractive, low-maintenance and long-lasting wall finish.
