Main purpose of this VIP lounge is for celebrities to take a rest or hold press conferences. The main concept is ‘circus’ - it has been the main form of entertainment since the old days. Stripes of the decoration resemble the pattern appeared in the circus tents.
For this project, the most challenging part was the difficulty in communication with the contractor because of the pandemic. We therefore need to come up with easier ways for execution to simplify the fabrication process.
Also, it is as important to choose materials that are more durable for easier maintenance.
The circular decorative plates are made of durable metal which are for easy maintenance. These stripes patterns were inspired by ‘circus’ - a circus is a group of many different performers, often including clowns, trapeze artists, and animal trainers. When the circus comes to town, you'll see a big, striped tent being set up for the show. These stripes not only appear in decorative lighting on the ceiling, but also as installations on the wall and as carpet patterns.
By repeating the same design element, it’s easier for the contractor's execution and greatly reduces the difficulty in fabrication. Moreover, the smooth curves of these decorative installations also echoes with the ‘cloud’ main theme of the cinema.
