The arch was cutfrom black and white andesite Amacker stone locally sourced just outside of Markleeville, Ca. The piers are surface stone with patina and cut to create anatural formation designed to fit with the terrain.  Unlike the rest of the arch which is same stoneonly without patina. Keystone centerpiece is black Granite Quarry in Raymond, Ca.

With a vision years in the making and a working relationship spanning over 30 years together on multiple projects, Paul was the artistic designer and Don Smit was the Architect of Record who drew up Pauls vison for this project.  On-site, artistc view and craftsmenship took priority which ended up with the arch being built bigger than shown on the plans, but the pure beauty and elegance of the arch leaves people in amazement.
