Club La Santa Sport

Club La Santa Sport

Henning Larsen Architects is behind a 40,000 m2 extension of Club La Santa Sport in the Canary Island, Lanzarote. In addition to the masterplan, the extension comprises a number of new sports and recreation facilities.

Club La Santa Sport in Lanzarote is one of the world’s leading sports hotels for amateurs and professional athletes and offers facilities for and professional training in more than 30 different sports.

Henning Larsen Architects extends the hotel to include a number of new facilities – from 4-star bungalows and restaurants to a golf training area, tennis courts, sports and squash halls to swimming pools, spas etc. All sports facilities are of a very high quality in order to meet the requirements of professional athletes.

The sports hall, which is primarily for handball and badminton, is designed by use of indirect daylight as a supplemental light source in order to give athletes training all day a sense of the time.

The squash courts are designed in a way that allows for other athletes to see the players creating a high degree of interaction between them. The aerobics area is designed as an amphitheatre where the participants are the audience of a traditional theatre and the instructor is on stage. This design creates the best visual contact possible between the instructor and the participants.

The indoor spa consists of a traditional spa and a relaxation area and features a large activity pool for aerobics, a jacuzzi, cold water pool, steam bath, sauna, handicap facilities etc. The relaxation area comprises an area for physiotherapy, massage, individual jacuzzis and a resting area with a café.
