Community Activities And Services Module - MASC

The Community Activities and Services Module was developed to meet the demand for spaces for commerce, food and socializing at the Darcy Ribeiro Campus of the University of Brasília Foundation. The project has been standardized to streamline construction and reduce the lead time.

The buildings destined for the Darcy Ribeiro Campus were named Community Activities and Services Module (MASC). On this Campus, the modules were located in the North (next to the Pavilions), Center (next to the UK and FT) and South (next to the IQ and FS).

The needs program for the Module includes:
• 06 multipurpose spaces of 14.22 m2 each
• 03 Food spaces of 48.35 m2, 50.42 m2 and 78.85 m2
• 37.52 m2 male and female public locker room each
• Male and Female Staff Locker of 9.68 m2 each
• 4.41 m2 changing room for people with special needs
• 4.70 m2 Cleaning Material Deposit
• Sports Equipment Deposit of 16.76 m2
• Living and Social Area of 484.27 m2
• Individualized electrical panels for each Multipurpose and Food spaces
• Piped and individualized gas for each Food space

The building was developed on the ground floor to ensure users' mobility. The covered space houses three volumes alternately arranged where the different functions are located. The first concentrates the multipurpose spaces, the second, the same size as the first, houses the changing rooms, and a larger module was used for food. In the remaining space, the living and social area is located for installing tables and benches.

The architectural party adopted sought to separate the different functions of the building by forming an indoor covered plaza as a permanent space.

The structure is traditional, molded concrete in loco, and the fences in plastered and painted perforated brick masonry. The brises will be of industrial line, in natural aluminum. The concern here was to keep construction costs low. Finishing materials should follow the current standard adopted at UnB, making it cheaper and simplifying  maintenance.
