CONTEMPORARY ARAB at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

New exhibition at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Henning Larsen Architects, together with French Atelier Jean Nouvel and X-Architects from Dubai, have contributed to the recently opened exhibition CONTEMPORARY ARAB at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. In a separate room, Henning Larsen Architects displays selected projects, which offer a unique insight into the company’s work in the Middle East.

Karsten Ifversen, Architecture Editor at the Danish newspaper Politiken, gives the exhibition four out of six stars and writes:

“As the best installation, and reminiscent of the best architecture exhibition at Louisiana, you find Henning Larsen Architects’ presentation of the company’s projects in Saudi Arabia.”

The exhibition focuses on the work with the public space in an Arab context. The exhibition room consists of a spatial installation – an elastic carpet, stretched out between the walls and pulled down in two points, as two concave columns. The structure of the installation filters the sunlight in a play between light and shadow, manifesting the ability of architecture to reproduce natural light. The installation is inspired by one of the company’s projects and mimes a semi-covered patio.
