Costa Corasol is a residential complex located in Playa del Carmen, overlooking the Caribbean. The masterplan consists of 6 apartment buildings with a beach club and diverse amenities such as the "owners club", a restaurant, an outdoor gym, a pool area, a kid's club, a mixed use plaza, among others. So far, there are two buildings built and the second phase of the project is under construction.

The design team proposed a singular treatment for the building’s balconies and terraces based on construction scaffoldings. The purpose of this particular design strategy was to add a second layer in order to give a sense of depth to the building’s façade. Costa Corasol reflects Cuaik CDS' scope of work. From masterplanning and architecture to furniture selection and styling, we tend to create comprehensive spaces by managing different scales without setting aside a highly detailed approach.

Inside this complex, we have designed architectural and interior pieces that seamlessly integrate with the surroundings and context. The concept was to maintain a tropical look using local materials, embellishing space through its natural qualities and finishes.

The restaurant is covered by a series of ribbed vaults that contain the space. It consists of a bar, exposing several glass bottles carefully placed in arched shelves which bring touches of color to the soft palette that surrounds. The dining tables are carefully placed above the terracotta tile flooring, contrasting between such different but harmonious tones.

The owners club is an exclusive bar/restaurant for owners that features special crochet and wooden art, crafted uniquely by K de Kilo. The bar is contained by hanging plants that bring new tones to the soft color palette of the rest of the space.

Costa Corasol Residences is a project that promotes the use of locally sourced materials that blend with the surrounding landscape, avoiding to be a part of the visual and urban noice menacing to take over Playa del Carmen’s beach line. Local materials bring new possibilities from designing to constructing, the different uses they have create a big spectrum of options, being more cost and energy efficient.
