Studio Comoglio Architetti as Architects

The renewal of a Turin apartment is a great opportunity to create a home environment based on the contrast between different chromatic and materic surfaces.

The living room, the kitchen, the entrance and the link to the sleeping area are in the same part of the house. In this open space there is a big dark column which contains on the kitchen side a fridge and on the living room side a TV screen and book shelves. A part from being a pure piece of furniture, this is the part where all the living area hinges on, creating an isle that separates the space without dividing the kitchen from the living room and the sofa.

The space is uniformed by the parquet that creates a single, cozy and warm surface against the dark wall in the living room. This wall, with a surface texture in relief, creates a sort of background against which all the white furniture (table, chairs and cupboard) stands out. In order to have a different illumination in the living room, the ceiling of the entrance zone and the kitchen has been lowered by a warm colored dropped ceiling.

The contrast between dark and light tones, smooth and materic surfaces, direct and indirect artificial light, brings out a contemporary environment which is anyway perfect for the needs of the owners.
