DISTRICT LIVING, DC Tower 3

BEHF Architects as Architects

The DC Tower 3, set at the waterfront of Vienna, houses Austria’s largest apartment building “DISTRICT LIVING” with 832 one and two-room apartments and a variety of common areas. BEHF Architects has been commissioned for the interior design. The architectural guiding principle is a game of opposites: private spaces create a calm and warm atmosphere while public areas are lively and colourful.

Accommodations are equipped with a sanitary unit, a workplace and a kitchenette. The materiality is limited to three main elements: white concrete, wood and tiles. Curtains, carpets, lights and decoration create a cosy atmosphere. The projections of the three-dimensionally warped facade elements are transformed into wooden alcoves on the inside which serve as heated seat windows.

The lobby serves as a reception area and a bar at the same time. The front desk and bar counter are surrounded by seating areas. Eye-catcher is a 18 m long and 4.5 m high mural which extends over the entire letterbox wall.

A sunken courtyard is a secret garden, outdoor bar and event space. On the 33rd floor the rooftop terrace with 360 degree views across Vienna is designed to resemble the deck of a ship.
