DONA OTI APARTMENT

In a high neighborhood in the city of Porto Alegre, this 65m² apartment was conceived before the pandemic and executed during it. The challenge was to carry out the project with many pauses and fears from all parties involved. With the pandemic under control, the photos were taken, and the result combines simplicity and functionality. With a wide view of the city, this space is practical and without many luxuries.

Right at the entrance, a shoe rack contributed to the new habits acquired during the pandemic. The furniture also hides the central electrical distribution. The upper shelf is made of white painted sheet metal.

In the kitchen, small changes were made to improve the environment. The countertops were replaced, and the cabinets were painted white. The pass-through was rethought so that the side facing the living room was all in wood, providing space for high stools, inviting to socializing.

The living room is also practical, with a rack that houses vinyl records and a chest to store toys. Shelves near the curtain rail accommodate books and plants, bringing the green from outside indoors. The coffee table is also a toy chest.

The apartment was purchased with gypsum ceiling and polished porcelain floor. The cold floor was replaced with tauari wood parquet, and the gypsum was removed. The furniture was all designed in white and naval plywood. These materials created a balanced and welcoming atmosphere.

The industrial aesthetic of the apartment is softened by cozy elements, such as the white-painted brick plaque covering. The living room shelf is versatile, serving as a library, workstation, wine cellar, and bar.
This apartment is an example of how intelligent design can transform spaces into practical and cozy homes, even amidst the hustle and bustle of the city and even during a pandemic.
