The small town of Erbach on the Danube is growing – and with it the demand for infrastructure to support local community life. The newly required triple sports hall for school and club activities is far more than a purely functional building. With its inviting forecourt, welcoming spectator areas including catering facilities, and a high degree of transparency, it serves as a vibrant meeting place with exceptional spatial quality and integrative impact.

The open spectator area addresses both the city and the spacious sports hall through large, floor-to-ceiling glazing. It remains unaffected by day-to-day sports operations; athletes use a separate entrance on the side, benefiting from short and direct circulation routes. The gymnastics room, designed as a flexible multi-purpose space, can be opened towards the foyer via a movable partition wall and integrated into larger events. The permanently installed spectator stand provides seating for 300 people. Wooden seating elements with walkable glass panels bring natural daylight down to the changing area corridors on the lower ground floor, creating unexpected visual connections and perspectives.
