Dutch tax museum rotterdam

Tjep as Architects

On the 6th of June, the Dutch Tax and Customs Museum re-opened the doors of their double mansion house location. Tjep. had the honour of doing the complete redesign.

The new concept is based on aiding the tax payer in finding out why, how and to whom we pay and have paid our taxed though the ages. All showcases differ in width and height, for taxes is all about measuring and weighing, everyone's taxes differ from one another.

The museum tour starts at the top floor, with the Tax Ear. Here you can express your feelings and suggestions about everything concerning taxes. Other visitors can see a video of you whispering your message into the ear. We take special pride in one of the center pieces, a clockwork model that represents the Dutch tax system, and the 'Douane Doe' room for kids to play and learn about Customs.
