At the first meeting, the customers gave us a velvet bag containing sea pebbles. It conveyed tactile sensation, mood and color scheme that had to be carried through the entire project.The house is located in a green residential area complex, near golf club, away from city noise, and a 5-minute drive from the main ring road. It is very important if there are a large number of children. The owners often visit different countries, travel a lot, but are always happy to return to their sweet home. They have 4 children and a beloved red cat, once rescued from the streets as a kitten.
The house has 2 floors, functionally the first floor is given over to a common area, the second floor, as usual, is given over to a private area. The front part is almost Open-space, where the hall-entrance leads to the kitchen-dining room, smoothly flowing into the living room and then onto the summer terrace. Initially, the developer proposed an stairs against the wall. Mirroring this design, we were able to arrange a large number of closed storage systems, with a small but spacious wardrobe for outerwear, drawers for shoes and even a toilet area for cat.
This also made it possible to visually expand the space of the hallway; when entering, a person does not rest his head on the flight of stairs. Several contractors worked together on the design of the staircase, only through thorns did we manage to achieve ringing knots, one might say this is our common gestated child). The customers came with the radical idea of removing the load-bearing column in the kitchen. They wanted more air around the kitchen island. We proposed a less radical solution for the arrangement of this zone, preserving the island, air and space.
The only invisible door in the kitchen leads to the pantry and boiler room; the wall panels in a smoky shade in this part of the wall fade into the background as much as possible and do not interrupt the slender composition of the kitchen. The height of the window sill made it possible to place the kitchen sink opposite the window to observe the changes in nature while doing the usual routine things. All the technical equipment of the house and the structure were carefully disguised and hemmed, fighting for every centimeter. Due to light matte surfaces and slot diffusers, echoing technical general lighting, it was possible to make these units light, invisible, and airy.
The kitchen and living room areas can be isolated as much as possible by sliding high glass doors with brass mesh. They achieve maximum aesthetic effect in the evening, under artificial lighting. A large open terrace is an ideal gathering place for the whole family; soon there will be a fireplace - the heart of the house - and a summer kitchen. Throughout the entire project, the customer made a choice in favor of certain materials based primarily on her tactile sensations. We touched, felt, lived everything.
This allowed us to channel the mood of each item in the interior through ourselves: everything is not accidental, everything is based on an internal response. There are a lot of objects made from natural materials that tell their own stories, pleasant enveloping soft shades, all this together creates the feeling of a cozy family nest. This is how the console behind the sofa made of oak with unique natural patterns appeared, brass facades near the console, mushroom coffee tables that grow from the weaves of the carpet, a retro lamp, wooden art by a Belarusian sculptor, a panel with eyes, which also conveys the philosophy of this family - to look and see the point. Second floor, completely private.
A large number of family members and a corresponding number of bedrooms - there are already 4 of them, a bathroom and a large common terrace. And here we managed to tell an honest story about people, about each individual and about everyone together. Small different stones in one cozy bag. In the girls' nursery there is a clean space for creative ideas. Natural matte tobacco green did not appear here by chance; it will reveal itself to its maximum - the girl’s red curls against the backdrop of the green sprouts of the painting, an ideal combination.
The eldest son's room is completely different, but also tells his story - music, structured chaos. The finishes have matte tactile textures, but in deeper colors. In the room of the youngest son, due to the design of the roof, it was possible to realize the dream of most children - a secluded play area in the mezzanine, which can be accessed by a shelving ladder, a work area and a bed on the 1st level. To the main pastel warm background of the walls, we added a heavenly one, which forms a block of the play area under the ceiling “in the sky.” But it also “cools” the space, because the windows in this room face south. The master bedroom fully reflects all the principles of the customers.
Maximum enveloping in color and texture, maximum tactile - from blankets to rhythmic veneer on the doors of the dressing room and pouf handles. A high mattress was specially used in the bed: customers appreciated the ergonomics of high hotel beds. How the customers humorously divided the bathrooms: on the second floor there is a strict masculine character, porcelain tiles imitating wood. The first one is feminine, minimalistic, but elegant, with dark accents, soft lighting, and smooth lines. The name of the project did not come by chance. “EYES” - which means internal perception, touch and complete trust. Even if you close your eyes, you can feel the softness and warmth of the materials, the main idea and philosophy that the family came to us with.
