Elegant 70s homage

A contemporary, chic and cozy tribute to the architectural era and surrounding environment, at a Jerusalem apartment located in a 1970s building, overlooking the Israel museum and Mediterranean landscape.

The owners, a couple of full-time young at heart grandparents, live in a 100 sqm apartment, purchased in blue-print at a tower that was among the first built in Jerusalem in the 1970s, with a rare view to the Valley of the Cross, the Israel Museum and parliment (Knesset).
The apartment was untouched since the seventies - burgundy terrazzo floors, mustard-colored tiles and wood-like Formica panels on the walls greet you as you step out of the elevator . The stone façade is ornamented with mother-of-pearl mosaic - I fell in love!

We demolished every possible wall, maxed the potential, and created a modular den, that can transform into an extra guest room when needed. But my favorite feature is for sure the museum view from under the shower!

I could go on about the accessibility measures taken, pocket doors (turns out slamming doors are an issue at this altitude), the bare aluminum, minimalist lighting, plaster-like tiles chosen in two different shades for the bathrooms (yes, the mustard and veneer echo the lobby!), the homage to the architectural era, sentimental family items incorporated into the design, and Mediterranean vibe inspired by the landscape…
