Elyra at Marjan Beach

Song of the Sea

Set along the coastline of Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, Elyra at Marjan Beach explores the relationship between architecture and the natural movement of the sea. Conceived as a contemporary residential and commercial development, the project draws inspiration from the rhythm of ocean waves, translating their fluidity into a distinctive architectural composition. The design responds to the site's coastal character through an emphasis on movement, openness and visual connection, allowing the surrounding landscape to become an integral part of its architectural identity.

Rising from a fan-shaped site, the building is organized into two gracefully extending wings that open towards the Arabian Gulf. Their curved geometry follows the natural movement of the coastline, establishing a fluid architectural expression while maximizing panoramic views across the water. The arrangement creates a sense of continuity between the two volumes, with the building's silhouette reflecting the changing relationship between land, sea and horizon.

The twin-wing configuration plays an important role in shaping the spatial experience. Rather than presenting a uniform façade, the architecture introduces varied orientations and perspectives, allowing the residences to engage with the coastal setting from different angles. The articulation of the building's form considers privacy, shading and the movement of natural light, balancing the openness of waterfront living with the practical requirements of residential architecture.

Across its 142 residential and commercial units, spatial planning prioritizes natural illumination and visual connections to the surrounding environment. Generous glazing and carefully positioned openings frame views towards the Arabian Gulf, bringing the horizon into the experience of the interior spaces. The relationship between the building envelope and the internal arrangement is conceived to create a sense of openness, with the architectural form supporting a continuous dialogue between indoor and outdoor environments.

Materiality further reinforces the project's coastal identity. A refined palette of finishes is selected to complement the natural tones and atmosphere of the shoreline, allowing the architecture to establish a contemporary presence while remaining connected to its setting. The interplay of curved surfaces, glazing and daylight introduces depth and variation across the composition, giving the building a changing visual character throughout the day.

The landscape and amenity spaces extend this relationship with the sea. Swimming pools, landscaped terraces and communal areas are positioned to take advantage of coastal views and natural light, creating environments for relaxation and social interaction. These spaces form part of the wider architectural experience, connecting the residential programs to the outdoor qualities of the site.

Sustainability is also considered within the project's design approach, with technologies and architectural strategies intended to support a more responsible relationship with the environment. The integration of these considerations alongside the building's form and spatial planning reflects a broader approach to coastal development.

At Elyra at Marjan Beach, the movement of the sea becomes the foundation of an architectural language shaped by fluid geometry, light and landscape. The twin-wing composition, carefully oriented residences and integrated outdoor spaces establish a cohesive relationship between the development and its waterfront setting. Currently at the building permit stage, the project proposes a contemporary coastal environment where architecture responds to the rhythms and character of the Arabian Gulf.
