Empire Stores

Empire Stores is a complex of seven historic 19th century warehouses located in Brooklyn’s newly popular East River-facing DUMBO neighborhood. The warehouses were used mainly for coffee storage until they were abandoned in the 1960s. The warehouses then sat mostly vacant for almost 50 years before Perkins Eastman, S9Architecture, and STUDIO V Architecture gave them new lift.

The design includes a carved out courtyard space in the center of the building that reactivates the structure and accommodates a mix of commercial, retail, and office uses. A new rooftop addition houses offices, restaurants, and a rooftop park for locals and tourists alike to enjoy unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline and the Manhattan Bridge.
