EPCOR 1931 Heritage Building

Reimagine Architects Ltd. as Architects

Located in utility provider EPCOR's historic Rossdale campus, this former administration and storage facility has been transformed into beautiful and modern office space for EPCOR Water Services senior management.

As a provincially designated historic resource, the design team's alterations to the facility required approval by Alberta Culture's Historic Resource Management department.

Many of the building's beautiful original features were restored with a careful eye to detail. Its original double hung windows were meticulously restored to their original 1931 condition, including counterweights and hardware. The building's beautiful lobby's myriad historical details were restored, from the ornate stair railing to its gorgeous terrazzo flooring.

The design team also made this historic building more sustainable. While all of the exterior masonry was being repointed, a layer of spray insulation was added behind the bricks, minimizing the building's heat loss. Inside the building, a high-performance mechanical induction system minimizes ductwork.

Light fixtures have been upgraded to LED technology, while the generous use of glass partitions maximize day lighting in these stunning offices.

Balancing historical features with modern amenities and technologies, the EPCOR 1931 Heritage Building is a beacon of progress and a landmark on campus.
