Eugenia Lake

Eugenia Lake House was designed for a young family as an all-season retreat, ideal for skiing, hiking, and enjoying the stunning lake. The main dwelling stands as the heart of this sanctuary, embodying passive house and sustainable design principles. A separate gym building offers a dedicated space for wellness and recreation.

The client’s vision for Eugenia Lake House was to create a generational home where families could enjoy quality time together, stay for extended periods, and immerse themselves in the serene lake views and tranquility of the surrounding nature.

The interior design features a playful undertone. The design concept embraces modern simplicity with clean lines, minimalist lighting, and warm wood tones, complemented by pops of color that harmonize with the natural lake environment. The curved cedar ceiling appears monolithic, with trimless custom details seamlessly integrating lights and ventilation ducts.

A centerpiece kitchen overlooking the breathtaking waterfront was a key request from the client. The design needed to accommodate multiple cooks and pizza-making parties, resulting in a large worktop space. Custom pendant lighting above the island integrates seamlessly with the curved ceiling. Incorporating a pizza oven, a client mandate, posed a challenge due to its size. The design team strategically positioned it near the dining area, allowing occupants to enjoy the cooking experience. Serving as a focal point, the pizza oven replaces the absence of a fireplace, aligning with Passive House priorities and featuring a thermally sealed door.

The gym encourages physical activity, fostering community and family bonds. Expansive views from the large double sliders bring in an abundance of natural light, enhancing mental health.

The house features sustainable materials, low-flow bathroom fixtures, Energy Star appliances, and zero/low VOC paints, creating an environmentally conscious living environment. The construction of Eugenia Lakehouse employs Passive House technologies and sustainable construction practices.  The architectural team and design team worked with specialists for high-efficiency materials, geothermal system installers, solar panel technicians, stone masons for locally sourced limestone, and passive design experts.

Designed as a generational home, Eugenia Lake House promotes environmental stewardship, nurturing a deep appreciation for nature. The interior design blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, creating a harmonious connection with nature and the lake beyond.
