Folio Design was commissioned by the FCCQ (Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec) to design its new office, embodying the association's core values: a dynamic and unifying space.
This non-profit organization brings together all of Quebec's chambers of commerce and its mission is to promote merchants from each region of the province. It plays a key role in the development and deployment of the various chambers across Quebec. Although its offices are in the greater metropolitan area, the goal was to create an environment distinct from that of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, while representing the strength of Quebec's business community network. Local suppliers and artists were utilized to showcase local expertise.
The existing space, now obsolete, was completely emptied to make way for a new, blank canvas for the FCCQ's project. The building was completely redesigned, both architecturally and mechanically.
The choice of site fits perfectly with the Federation's goal of accessibility and visibility. After analyzing several spaces, the choice was made for a location on the ground floor of 1100 Robert-Bourassa, in Montreal, in the heart of the business district, offering easy and convenient access for members. This commitment to sharing and community reflects the organization's values of openness, especially considering that the upper floors of downtown Montreal buildings are traditionally the most sought-after.
The project is in an environment with high ceilings and large windows, offering unobstructed views of the bustling street. The goal is to create a flexible space, suitable for both Federation employees and members.
From the moment you enter, l’espace des régions reveals itself as a friendly place, bathed in a participatory and collective atmosphere, where Federation members can gather to collaborate. The multifunctional nature of this reception area gives it great versatility, allowing it to host press conferences, serve as a meeting room, and as a networking space.
At the heart of the conceptual development process, the Folio Design team approached artist Cyndie Belhumeur of Beige Fluo to collaborate on the integration of works highlighting the FCCQ's values. A large custom mural depicting textures from Quebec serves as the artist's visual signature. Highlighting the FCCQ's mission through art is undoubtedly a major achievement, arousing genuine emotional sensitivity among users.
Flexibility in the layout is one of the key factors in the success of this project. The training room, a central element, stands out for its versatility. It incorporates subtle details that echo the Federation's values and brand image. Its retractable central partition allows the room to be used as needed, whether for meals, conferences, or events. Every square centimeter has been optimized to provide a multifunctional space.
The visual unity of this project is born from a masterful balance between materiality, bespoke details, and meticulous construction. Thanks to the sensitive integration of art, the project succeeds in awakening a genuine emotion, both in visitors and daily occupants.
