The Find Sanctuary prototype cabin sits high atop a hill in the picturesque landscape of Southern California, nestled among the clouds. This cabin is a dream born from the client's fascination with the Scandinavian design aesthetic of clean lines, natural materials, and a soothing neutral palette. The intent was to create a calming space for guests to work from, without replicating the aesthetic of a traditional cabin. Narrative Design Studio collaborated with the client to help bring his vision to life.
The cabin is a testament to the beauty of simplicity, with Douglas fir embracing both its interior and exterior. At the heart of the cabin, a large picture window frames the world outside. Positioned at the foot of the bed, it offers a breathtaking view, inviting occupants to bask in the ever-changing tapestry of the landscape.
A weaving by Vuzel, with its delicate hues, provides a hint of vibrancy to the otherwise neutral palette. Bold black accents punctuate the space, creating a striking contrast against the warm, blonde woods.
In the kitchen, handmade ceramics by W/R/F add a touch of craftsmanship and artistry. Here, the design philosophy was to let natural materials shine, while maintaining clean lines and functionality.
In the bathroom, limewash-finished walls continue the calming palette, creating a space that feels like a soothing retreat. Black fixtures by Waterworks add a touch of sophistication, harmonizing effortlessly with the overall design. A custom-colored concrete sink and an organic-shaped mirror offer an air of uniqueness to the space, while a skylight in the shower fills it with a warm, gentle glow against the tiles.
The shower itself features a rain shower, a fitting choice that echoes the cabin's connection to nature. And just outside, the ultimate oasis of relaxation awaits: a luxurious soaking tub. Its copper bath spout by ORCA Living adds a touch of rustic elegance to the outdoor space, where one can unwind and rejuvenate while taking in the breathtaking views.
