RHYTHM, SPACE AND STILLNESS
A folded structure inviting reflection
The Folding Library stands as an architectural gesture within the renewed VDMA complex in Eindhoven. Defined by its pleated shape and transparent skin, the building orchestrates a rhythmic composition of light and texture. Open façades create visibility and accessibility, inviting visitors to pause, explore and connect.

Between sculptural presence and purpose
Inspired by the act of folding paper, the design reveals itself as a pavilion that unfolds toward the city. The folded volume and façade rhythm give the library a bold presence while maintaining human scale. Inside, warm timber finishes create a calm, tactile environment ideal for focus, rest and interaction.

A public space redefined
The Folding Library is more than a place to read. It’s a civic anchor that connects people and city, ephemeral in form, enduring in impact. Through simplicity, precision and material refinement, it redefines the public library as a space of openness, identity and quiet transformation
