This 1100 SF space is a reinvention of an early 1960s unit in one of two semi-circular towers near Aquatic Park in San Francisco. The client wanted the feel of a high-end hotel getaway for this piéd a terre: sleek, exciting, sexy. We began by reapportioning the space between the master suite and living room to reveal all of the landmark views from the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz, to the Bay Bridge.
The theatrical curves of the oval living area echo the breakwaters in the port area below, the shape of the building itself, and the cable arches of the Golden Gate Bridge. The custom-built sofa sits on a lighted plinth, its bright rust-red a contrast to the otherwise restrained palette. Other theatrical touches include a 6' slab of Laurentian Green granite with iridescent flashes, and two custom-made beds.
