Tucked within a former industrial building in Berlin, FORM 03 is a pied-à-terre designed as a quiet sanctuary for a global art dealer whose life oscillates between continents, collections, and exhibitions. The apartment reflects a balance between rooted calm and transient energy — a distilled space to pause between travels.
Located within the newly redeveloped Am Tacheles ensemble in Berlin Mite — an area whose layered history spans from vibrant Jewish marketplace to avant-garde art hub — the apartment sits at the crossroads of cultural heritage and contemporary living. The surrounding architecture reflects this evolution, balancing traces of the past with modern craftsmanship.
The interior concept orbits around bespoke craftsmanship and material warmth. Custom-made wood furniture anchors the rooms, its tactile surfaces aged to a soft patina over time. Light flows through carefully planned openings, illuminating the natural textures and curated surfaces. Books, sculptural lighing, and personal objects populate the space subtly, emphasising lived-in elegance without spectacle.
For the photography, a selection of works by Berlin-based artists Eva Jablonsky and Rike Kaufmann was thoughfully integrated to complement the spatial composition. These pieces, while not part of the owner’s private collection, echo the apartment’s dialogue between design, art, and craftsmanship — hinting at the cultural landscape beyond the wall
Conceived as both a refuge and a frame for future encounters, FORM 03 invites slow inhabitation. The muted palette and minimal detailing offer flexibility for evolving collections, conversations, and quiet returns. Situated in Berlin’s creative core, the apartment resonates with both the city’s artistic dynamism and the owner’s international sensibility.
Architect Hagar Abiri and her Berlin-based studio HAA&D led the project, bringing an architectural language honed by years of work at the intersection of art, urbanism, and design.
