In Antwerp, Masters of Interior Design transformed a former warehouse into a home where the industrial architecture and refined bespoke joinery reinforce one another. The clients wanted to preserve the scale and character of the building, without living in a showroom.
Following the studio's Interieur MasterPlan Methode, the daily life of the residents was mapped first. This resulted in a layout with clearly defined zones for living, cooking, working and entertaining, with sightlines running the full length of the space. The whitewashed brickwork and steel structure remain visible throughout; daylight falls deep into the home through the rooflights.
Bespoke elements bind the whole together: a full-height library wall, a kitchen with a wooden cooking island facing a black wall volume, a built-in workspace and a bathroom in which wood and black soften the industrial rawness. Greenery grows throughout the house and connects inside with outside.
The project is a total design, including the outdoor space: the roof terrace was designed as a fully fledged outdoor room, with the same calm and material logic as the interior. In the clients' words: "The conversations, interventions and suggestions lifted the plans to another level."
