Located on a 5,051m² corner lot filled with trees and marked by a slope that opens toward a valley view, CG House was conceived as a countryside retreat designed to host friends and family. Designed by Estúdio Naia, the residence was guided by the premise of preserving the existing vegetation, especially a large tree at the center of the site, which ultimately became the project’s protagonist.
“The most striking moment happens when you enter through the main door and the tree is revealed, framed by the portico. This integration between the built space and the landscape makes the house extremely pleasant,” explain the architects Samuel Cury and Dayane Rosseto.
The house is positioned on the highest elevation of the site to enhance the view while simultaneously embracing the canopy of the central tree. The program is organized into three main volumes: social, service, and private. The social block —larger, more open, and with higher ceilings — connects to the others and concentrates the living and gathering spaces. The service block is more discreet and compact, while the private block houses the bedrooms.
During construction, the need to expand the program led to the creation of an annex with additional bedrooms, a playroom, and a mechanical room. Thanks to the modular logic of the layout, this addition integrated naturally into the overall composition, as if it had been planned from the beginning.
Inspired by contemporary Brazilian modernism, CG House privileges pure lines and volumes articulated through expressive materials. Slatted cumaru wood panels clad much of the façades and portions of the interiors, in dialogue with expansive glazing and exposed concrete pillars and slabs.
The rustic texture of moledo stone in the gourmet area and the rough granite flooring in the outdoor and social areas reinforce the sense of continuity between house and landscape, while natural wood flooring brings warmth to the interiors.
The atmosphere is complemented by comfort and technology solutions. The social area can open almost entirely through large sliding glass panels, connecting to the landscape and promoting cross ventilation. The lighting design highlights materials and volumes, while the automation system allows for scene settings and control of the outdoor areas.
