GRADATION TOWER _Plastic Editology

L'EAU Design as Architects

This Hospital tower proposes an editable gradation tower, which responds to the evolving program through the flexibility of a vertical stacking arrangement. the gradation skin made by the plastic arrangement of Programmatic Bands will be an element that adapts to the environment as it changes according to the nature or vertical arrangement of the internal program. Actually, even during the construction process, there was a change in the stacking arrangement as the program was changed twice. The Programmatic Bands thus formed give possibility for vertically free stacking.

Today, we need to move away from architecture that is like a solid building wearing a nice suit, and open the possibility of partial change, so that a building’s internal program responds to changes in the external environment. Modern aesthetic value seeks selective editing and wants to actively respond to constant change. From now, rather than a fixed Unification Body, it requires a living body in which independent parts can be edited in response to the environment.
