Grand Villa 3.0, a villa built on 64 sqm land in the tourism area of Gunungkidul. Having 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, the 72 sqm building floor accommodates 11 guests comfortably thanks to its multifunctional interior design. Some unusual design layouts such as on the TV above the stairs, or a corner room with a hidden bed, will be found in this villa.
The narrow land is a challenge for making a compact villa which allows lot of sunlight penetrates through the house, has a good cross ventilation and an interesting space pattern, while keep maintaining the privacy of the guest. The challenge is answered by playing the building mass and openings. The front mass is tilted to avoid direct sunlight and be more aesthetic. It also has a function so that the room has a view towards homestay area.
The architect used dominant white colors and raised the ceilings to a maximum height favouring the feeling of spaciousness. Some natural colors and textures were chosen as the finishing touches of the furniture and on the door that was painted by a local artist. The result is a bright and fluid space, starring natural light and the richness of textures and contrasts with a feel of Gunungkidul.
