In 2007, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates (WJE) was hired to investigate the failing exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) installed at the Everett Group Health Campus. Over the previous several years, repairs had been made to the cladding, including replacing the EIFS on the south elevation with new EIFS. WJE noted during their investigation that parts of the EIFS was de-bonded from the gypsum sheathing behind, i.e. it was starting to fall off the building. WJE recommended that the EIFS be removed and a new cladding be installed.
With the building located along the I-5 corridor, Group Health wanted an upgrade to the exterior aesthetic of the building and felt it was important to present a contemporary appearance to the community. WJE designed and recommended a new cladding system utilizing CERACLAD™ Rain Screen Fiber Cement Siding in the color Wasabi.
The CERACLAD system installs with its proprietary clip system to provide a 15mm ventilated cavity behind the panels. The cavity reduces thermal transfer and promotes drying to the exterior. This selection provided the contemporary look Group Health desired while also delivering the exceptional performance of a low maintenance, long-lasting color finish achieved with the factory applied “Ceramic” coating, only available with CERALCAD™.
