Head in the Clouds is an All Day Brunch restaurant concept in Shanghai, created for food lovers and daydreamers. It’s a laidback place to enjoy delicious and captivating food, while relaxing and soaking up the moment. The design concept has a nod to vintage music, since the owner is a musician who has an affinity for cassette tapes. A special wall is dedicated to the owner’s old cassette tapes, an opportunity for him to showcase and play his cassette tapes collection.

To complement this music and food concept, DOHO created a raw industrial style by stripping the existing site to expose the existing load-bearing concrete walls and columns. This industrial backdrop was further accented by acid-etched metal and stained glass to create an edgy and rough atmosphere. A parquet wood floor in chevron pattern was used to further complement the core elements by adding a warmer and softer tone.

The central element is a sculptural ceiling light fixture that was created from copper conduits and exposed bulbs, providing a soft light suitable for day and night. The lighting follows the freeform bench seating, meandering around the central column, creating diverse yet private seating corners. A free-standing bar with geometric tiles and hanging rack takes a prominent place and is an edgy showpiece on its own.

One of the main attractive features is the lush patio and the high seats in the tall iron windows, welcomes guests to enjoy outdoors in a relaxed and secluded environment.
