Esdegee Reigersdaal is a healthcare provider for clients with severe mental disorders. Het Erf offers clients day treatments. These daily activities are performed in low irritation, garden, animal and service groups in the teahouse.
The site is located next to a new neighbourhood park in Heerhugowaard in the Netherlands. The buildings are designed by Marc Prosman architects and are surrounded by small-scale village planning of landscape architects Karres en Brands.
On the terrain the different groups of clients and supervisors work in different buildings and outdoor spaces. The central walkway and uniform detailing of the buildings connects the different spaces with each other. On the other hand, the colours of the building and gardens provide a varied image. Ultimately, the chosen sightlines connect the different area with each other.
It is understandable that the healthcare provider has its priorities with their clients, the staff members and the limitation of the budget over the design. However; by working well together with all parties, this project is a convincing example of design in combination with a functional building complex kept within its financial framework.
Het Erf has become a cheerful and beautiful building complex.
