HN Headquarters by Studio Blend is located in a wing of Palazzo Rucellai, one of Florence's most famous palaces. The renovation adapts the company's needs to the historic interior spaces by inserting greenery and nature to create spatial divisions. Natural light also plays a key role, alongside the use of deliberately dramatic lighting concepts.
More from the Architects:
HN, a Tuscan green building construction and renovation company, has chosen, for its new Florentine headquarters, a wing of one of the most famous palaces in Florence: Palazzo Rucellai.
The lucky and untouchable historic building imposes on the architectural intervention a work of adapting the needs of the company to the interior spaces.
The spatial division of the main hall is done by forcefully inserting greenery and nature within this environment, creating separate areas. Although the concept may appear intrusive at first glance, it actually manifests itself in a deliberately respectful manner.
The numerous plants remain a still and silent presence within the space that accommodates them and which, from the 1400s onward, tells its own long story. The tale unfolds among the various rooms, each of them characterized by a large table designed and conceived as a small architectural project.
Natural light plays a key role in the perception of spaces: especially when it is not there. The meeting rooms, bathed in strong light thanks to the presence of the palace's round mullioned windows with two lights, revolve around the heart of the apartment where the presidential office is located, a completely dark room. Here the original frescoes chase each other in the walls and ceilings, leaving no room for any windows. The interior design traces the austere atmosphere, emphasizing it through the use of deliberately dramatic lighting, in pure contrast to the other rooms. The design tells a precise identity, which speaks of nature, history and beauty.
