Høje-Taastrup City Hall is a striking architectural landmark that blends innovation, sustainability, and community focus. Located in the new city park, it connects the City2 shopping center with the emerging Høje-Taastrup C urban development. Featuring flexible workspaces for employees and a welcoming environment for citizens, the City Hall strengthens collaboration and local connections. The "Citizens' House" stands as a forward-thinking design, offering sustainable solutions and creating lasting value for the entire community.
Høje-Taastrup Municipality envisioned a modern and sustainable city hall that would serve as a vibrant civic hub. The goal was to create a welcoming space for citizens and a flexible, future-proof workplace for municipal employees.
"This innovative project embodies the ambition of an entire city. Together, we’ve created a striking and functional building that strengthens democratic processes, community ties, and local identity."
- Søren Mølbak, Partner & CEO, PLH
PLH’s design approach centered on fostering transparency, accessibility, and community engagement. By integrating sustainable practices and dynamic spaces, PLH aimed to create a civic building that serves both as a workplace and a community cornerstone.
The nine-story city hall stands as a visually striking landmark, featuring a champagne-coloured, angled façade and a transparent atrium. Its inviting public spaces, including a rooftop terrace open to the public and landscaped surroundings, connect seamlessly with the nearby park and urban area. Flexible interiors optimise daylight and air quality, ensuring a healthy and adaptable work environment. To future-proof the office areas, the design is flexible, so it can be easily adapted and reconfigured for new needs and work methods. Sustainable features like recycled concrete foundations, intelligent energy systems, and biodiversity-focused landscaping have earned the building a DGNB Gold certification, setting a new standard for civic architecture.
"This city hall is a prominent landmark in our new district Høje-Taastrup C and at the same time a truly exciting building with lots of new possibilities for both employees and citizens. It is a citizens' house, where associations have opportunities like borrowing the council chamber or meeting rooms for events. It is a modern, flexible workplace where we can serve citizens and work in many different ways. And sustainability is at the forefront as seen in the reuse in the construction, solar cells on the roof and a sound operating economy going forward."
- Kurt Scheelsbeck, Acting Mayor of Høje-Taastrup Municipality
