PUNTA TRAGARA: UNDER THE EXPERT AND ECLECTIC HAND OF THE ARCHITECT GIORGIA DENNERLEIN REVIVES THE FIVE-STAR LUXURY HOTEL IN CAPRI DESIGNED BY LE COURBUSIER

PUNTA TRAGARA: UNDER THE EXPERT AND ECLECTIC HAND OF THE ARCHITECT GIORGIA DENNERLEIN REVIVES THE FIVE-STAR LUXURY HOTEL IN CAPRI DESIGNED BY LE COURBUSIER
Guido Fuà

Le Corbusier had understood Punta Tragara as "a kind of architectural flowering, an emanation of the rock, a filiation of the island, a plant phenomenon". Almost a century later, the "stracasa" wanted by the Lombard engineer Emilio Errico Vismara, overlooking the sea of Capri, with a view of the Fararaglioni, was enriched with new suggestions under the Counts Manfredi, who in 1973 made it the Hotel Punta Tragara and over the years it became a 5-star luxury boutique hotel.

An island within an island that dresses itself up as contemporary thanks to the inspiration of the architect Giorgia Dennerlein and her ability to sew the volumes of this extraordinary architectural work following the suggestion of the landscape. The surrounding nature connects with the structure, informing all the rooms with a view to sustainability. In the large light cutouts the spaces are amplified and the colours and furnishings are accentuated.

The architect's intervention is achieved above all in the integration of pre-existing structural elements with innovative solutions that always have in mind the Capri skyline and the continuous change of the marine scenario under the push of the winds. Giorgia Dennerlein works on rooms and common areas - main staircase and hall - projecting the restyling towards the outside and letting the regenerating magic of the island breathe inside.

Each place is unique and deepens the idea of the deserved exclusive relaxation after a long journey. So whoever arrives at Punta Tragara recovers all the enchantments of the place in a single place, even living within the walls of the exclusive twentieth-century building. The ancient soul of the villa flows into the contemporary through a reasoned and eclectic compositional strategy that combines traditional and contemporary ceramic objects with the Mediterranean fantasies of the wallpapers. Cultured details that tell different stories and eras, that want to be dedicated to those who always live with imagination and a suitcase.

The hall finds inspiration in the rose garden of Countess Manfredi, a figure whose memory, taste and regal hospitality echoes everywhere. The triumph of antique chandeliers and light points, the Hoffman armchairs, the large mirror, the black and white carpet of the 1940s and the mosaic carpet "Bouquet di Rose Bisazza" are proof of this.

At the back of the entrance gallery Bird, the platinum enamelled ceramic sculpture by the Spanish designer Hayon, placed on a pedestal covered with fragments of mirrors, is meant to be the original greeting to the guest and the representation of the joy offered to travellers who choose the Hotel Punta Tragara.

Brand description
LOTO AD PROJECT is an architectural firm comprising architects, designers and technicians who operate in design, architectural design and interior design thanks to a comprehensive pool of flexible and diverse professionals who are able to meet specific client needs. The company’s work revolves around the legacy of an established principle: What is beautiful and what is ugly? “… It’s all a matter of education. As long as people cannot distinguish between beautiful and ugly, we will not have quality art in our houses… “, extending this concept of Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) to architecture, design, finishing materials, furniture and furnishings, LOTO AD PROJECT designs and selects the best products on the design market to improve and innovate the concept of living today. It is a coherent and original work, creating an inimitable style, offering an intangible yield that creates a conjunction between real and virtual products. The skill in the organization and management of the various activities can be traced in the numerous architectural, interior design and design addendums completed since 1999, testifying quality and quantity of the work carried out and documented by the recognition of the architectural market press . Pondering about the world we live in is pivotal to the research work we do in the current period. We discover that colour returns to design architecture and transform spaces and surfaces; rediscover how to be surrounded by nature, with plants and oversized vases, using décor-objects which play with the imagination; keeping in mind the feminine element in creativity and in designing reality; understanding and anticipating “Tomorrow’s advent that will form part of the elements with which we research and uncover connections between elements and generate utopian conditions to express our personal vision of the world and space. This is why LOTO aims to show, via the selection of architectural and design projects, a particular path within which the reconstructed interior looks like a chaotic conception, which , emerging from itself, incorporates the architecture of the dwelling. In this process, the product is absorbed in the interior design’s global vision of architecture to create a global space. It is a constant project mutation that stems from the ‘stato ante operam’ to create a completely new structure generated by architect’s intent. The philosophy that LOTO AD PROJECT has developed creates a network of services the customer can follow from the development of the concept to the delivery of the final product, which includes the selection and supply phase of the architectural materials, from the finishes to the fittings, furniture and household components, leading to some details that influence not only the house but the person too, such as the home clothing, and contemporary jewelry, this idea is all-encompassing and with the turnkey formula .
